"niobium" and freshwater pearls

.

these fantastic polymer clay beads are made with a technique adapted from syndee holt to make "niobium" beads.  the colors are remarkably like anodized niobium metal, which is an metal beginning to be used in jewelry making.  when exposed to an electrical bath, the metal turns the most lovely shades of brilliant peacock blue, green, violet and fuchsia.

I paired these "niobium" beads with brilliant magenta freshwater pearls, and accented with sterling silver.  the necklace is about 20" long and finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp. the earrings are mounted on sterling silver posts.
